Feeling Rough – Things to Do

Posted on 31 October 2006. Filed under: Copyright, Feeling Rough, Ill, Nanowrimo, Personal, Self Publishing, Sickypoo, Writing |

This is a bit poop. Its one of my days off (I actually get quite a few each weak, my income is low because I’m only a part timer), and I wake up feeling like crap. I’ve got a nasty cough that’s stayed with me since my last cold (about a week and a half [...]

Just a quickie again. Basically, an old magazine me and some friends used to write at our university has gone online. Some good stuff here, a lot of fun articles and a difficult to navigate yet well designed site. Anyway, some of my stuff is on there, plus some excellent stuff from the kind of [...]

So, basically, the off license (booze merchant for those not ‘in the know’ so to speak) round the corner has started stocking the 2006 vintage of what I consider to be one of the finest ales known to humanity: Dark Star Imperial Stout. This sweet nectar is produced by Dark Star, a local small scale [...]

Punk -What does it mean?

Posted on 28 October 2006. Filed under: Culture, Ethics, Fashion, Haircuts, Music, Personal, Politics, Punk |

So, just a quickie, (a more detailed post on a more interesting/controversial topic later today or tomorrow), but on my way to work I saw a couple of young ladies walking down the road with very dramatic ‘punk’ haircuts and outfits discussing haircare. From what I could gather from my eaves droppings Punk 1 was [...]

Who’s House? – Well, Mine apparently

Posted on 27 October 2006. Filed under: Brighton, Music, Personal |

So, a bit busy today, and I have to work a silly shift from ten pm (in about half an hour) until four in the morning. I’ll be on the internet and spending sometime playing games but if anyone can come up with some incredible form of entertainment to occupy my time, please make your [...]

Nanowrimo – Join the Club, Write a Crap Novel (or if you’re Lucky a Good One)

Posted on 25 October 2006. Filed under: Being a 'writer', Fantasy, How to write, Literature, Nanowrimo, Personal, Silliness, Writer's Block, Writing |

So, I’m guessing that most of you will have heard of this already. But for those who haven’t, I think I’m going to try and force myself back in to writing by doing the ridiculous and attempting the not quite impossible. That’s right, I’m going to go from zero output to writing a whole (short) [...]

Look who linked Me

Posted on 24 October 2006. Filed under: Inequality, Robots, Silliness |

So, just a quickie. I just got a new referrer, from a clearly bot made page…I kind of hate to link to this, so I won’t. I think there’s a link on one of my old blog entries (the one on inequality and censorship and the right wing) but basically just look at the list [...]

Ethics – Mine, Not Yours

So this is gonna be a biggy, and I need to make a few disclaimer points before I start, that are actually part of the general message I’m trying to convey, but if I don’t say them then…well, actually I’ll start, hopefully you’ll get the point. As always I encourage debate..but please don’t attack me [...]

Why I (don’t) Write – Is not writing always writer’s block or is it sometimes just not being a writer

Posted on 22 October 2006. Filed under: Being a 'writer', How to write, Personal, Writer's Block, Writing |

So, here goes. The big confession that just about everyone makes.
I want to be a writer.
Whilst growing up i always told people that I wanted to be a writer, and I love writing, and all that kind of stuff. So how come I’ve barely written anything in my life. About eight ‘failed novels’ (most barely [...]

Just a quick link to a fantastic article elsewhere on the interweb about public and private pain in relation to gender and identity, particularly using comics as the focus. Really incredible article, Well written and waking me up to a few things I wasn’t aware of and hadn’t considered. It led on to a [...]

Stiff Upper Lip Part 2 – This time there’s Boobies

Posted on 20 October 2006. Filed under: Brighton, Britain, Diary?, Manners, Nudity, Politeness, Silliness |

So, the title pretty much sums it up. Last night, was walking to the cashpoint about half eleven, heading towards the hip hop night where we were heading toward (Edan and fellow heads from Lewis Recordings flown over from America..awesome night, but I digress). Anyway, I notice a naked woman, point her out to a [...]

The Benefit of a Stiff Upper Lip

Posted on 19 October 2006. Filed under: Anachronisms, Britain, Manners, PAtriotism, Politeness, Silliness, Uncategorized |

So perhap’s a slightly more traditional entry this time, a simple, brief story from my day, and what I learned from it.
Finished work (quite late mind, past the polite hours), fancied a drink, called a few people, none were willing to sup with me, so I proceeded to walk to the alehouse nearest my abode. [...]

So, just checked out the ‘top ten posts’ thing on my control panel or something (sorry that so far all of this blog has been about blogging and not anything else, this isn’t my intention..i’m jsut trying to get myself going) and found two incredibly differing articles that, at least from my perspective, are about [...]

Alabaster Crippens doesn't entirely believe in objective truth, therefore he can neither confirm or deny the accuracy of any statement, image or impression caused by, or displayed on, these pages of the so called 'internet'. He does however not want to get sued, even if the lawyers, legal system, and the concept of jurisprudence doesn't exist. Therefore if you believe the nonsense posted on here you do so entirely at your own risk. In other words: Don't sue me 'cause I might not mean it. Basically, anything you hear from anyone is unreliable, so if you want the 'truth' you need the perspectives of as many people as you can get..ideally people who are trustworthy and close to the particular 'truth' you wish to inspect. If you start trusting idiots with silly (and obviously made up) names then you're developing some kind of problem. Check your sources, examine their own politcal (or other) motivation, remember that anything people say is opinion unless you are certain that they speak the 'truth'. Even your own eyes can lie. Trust me on that one. Or don't..it doesn't bother me. Finally, everything written here is, to the best of my knowledge written by me and I reserve my right to be recognised as the author of these works. Any input from other sources should be clearly shown, if you note a mistake or anything..tell me..I'll try and sort out the problem. Please ask me if you want to use anything for commercial reasons...I probably won't mind but I need to know I'm not supporting anything I don't want to support. This is an attempt at a legal notice written without legal knowledge. Just follow the principles, I think most of you get what I mean, even if it won't stand up in a court of law. Just be polite you know...like in the good ole days.
