Little bit of housekeeping.
My e-mail address has moved. I don’t publish it here as standard (though you can always contact me using ‘poke the beast’ but those of you who know it already, it’s basically the same, only it’s googlemail.com instead of ntlworld.com .
Please continue to send me whatever you like. Right now the cupboard [...]

Wish me luck

Okay, so this morning, I dreamt a particularly metaphysical xkcd comic.
Basically, the title was steam train. In the main area was a blank rectangle, the size of the average comic strip. Drawn all around it were things like needle and thread, scissors and things. The mouse over alt-text was ‘Go on, you know you want [...]

Note to self

If you listen carefully, you can hear these things. If you look carefully, you’ll see what you’re after.
-Haruki Murakami – Dance, Dance, Dance
And combining ideas from the two literary obsessions of the last year or so, those words shall be pasted on a banner and hung up in my room.
Just finished the book, wonderful. I [...]

Talking to a brick wall – Conversations with a Younger Self

Posted on 16 July 2008. Filed under: Personal, Thoughts |

There are many ways in which I want to plug Kate Beaton.
Wait, let me start again, without the unintentional innuendo.
Kate Beaton is clearly the coolest thing to ever happen.
I’ve been wanting to explain this for a while, but I don’t like to just randomly link, so I waited til I had something to say.
And here [...]

As follows natures flan

Okay, so I always get a bit grumpy about the nature/nurture debate. It seems entirely obvious to me (not the most scientific method I know, but I don’t understand how it could be otherwise) that genetics plays a huge part in creating the starting (and sometimes continuing) conditions of our lives. That is exactly what [...]

Gendered Fucking – GenderFuck

Posted on 8 July 2008. Filed under: Culture, Identity, Rant, Self, Sexuality, gender |

More sex and sexuality for the boys and girls and, particularly, the in betweens or outsiders.
Spent this morning flicking through a book on Genderqueer identity this morning. Particularly a chapter on definitions of transgender and how they fit into discourse discussing gender and sexuality in the arenas of feminism and lgb activism. Some talk about [...]

Sexduality

So, I’ve written about this before, kinda.
Anyway, I’m writing, because I’ve got something to write about, and it’s not misery-centric, and it mightbe interesting, and my stats have plummeted, and I’ve stopped paying attention. This gives me motivation to do something, and it really was an interesting conversation. Broad generalisations ahoy, apologies if it’s all [...]

Alabaster Crippens doesn't entirely believe in objective truth, therefore he can neither confirm or deny the accuracy of any statement, image or impression caused by, or displayed on, these pages of the so called 'internet'. He does however not want to get sued, even if the lawyers, legal system, and the concept of jurisprudence doesn't exist. Therefore if you believe the nonsense posted on here you do so entirely at your own risk. In other words: Don't sue me 'cause I might not mean it. Basically, anything you hear from anyone is unreliable, so if you want the 'truth' you need the perspectives of as many people as you can get..ideally people who are trustworthy and close to the particular 'truth' you wish to inspect. If you start trusting idiots with silly (and obviously made up) names then you're developing some kind of problem. Check your sources, examine their own politcal (or other) motivation, remember that anything people say is opinion unless you are certain that they speak the 'truth'. Even your own eyes can lie. Trust me on that one. Or don't..it doesn't bother me. Finally, everything written here is, to the best of my knowledge written by me and I reserve my right to be recognised as the author of these works. Any input from other sources should be clearly shown, if you note a mistake or anything..tell me..I'll try and sort out the problem. Please ask me if you want to use anything for commercial reasons...I probably won't mind but I need to know I'm not supporting anything I don't want to support. This is an attempt at a legal notice written without legal knowledge. Just follow the principles, I think most of you get what I mean, even if it won't stand up in a court of law. Just be polite you know...like in the good ole days.
